As an avid dog lover and hiker, my dogs have always gone with me on my many adventures of hiking, camping, kayaking and more. Not one trip has ever resulted in clean paws for anyone, pup or owner. We always enjoy being able to go on long hikes and days out on the water. In 2021, that changed when we adopted a rescue dog, who we named Kevin, or as we call him Kevi Wevy, unless he is up to no good, then our "Home Alone" mom comes out....KEVIN!
Kevin is a Beagador who has Cerebellar Hypoplasia, which affects his motor function abilities. We had no idea he had the condition, but as he grew, we started noticing his unstable balance and walking, along with depth perception issues. Sometimes when over stimulated his legs just decide it's time to lock up and stop, even though Kevin isn't ready to. When this happens he starts to howl and cry, not in pain but more out of sadness and frustration. It was during one of our hikes, when his body did just that, shut down and turned off his motor skills. He wanted to move as fast as our other dogs, but when he knew he couldn't, his sadness made me realize we just need to slow down ourselves and reevaluate. We need to sit with him, adjust and enjoy a different adventure. As we sat beside Kevin in the field that day with our paws covered in mud, as usual, overlooking a stunning vibrant autumn mountain, it was Kevin who reminded US to stop and take in the beauty...to make the most of the present time and give thought to the future, and that's exactly what he did for us. Muddy Pawz Media inception started that day as we sat and discussed what we'd really like out of life, so what a better way to honor our special needs pup...all pups for that matter, by creating a logo that moves us to create, inspire and tell stories like ours, yours and others.
